Girls in Tech San Diego Celebrates 2!
Join #GITSD as we celebrate our 2 year anniversary at FruitCraft on Thursday, September 12th from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm.
Girls in Tech is a global non-profit that works to put an end to gender inequality in high-tech industries and startups. We do that by educating and empowering women who are passionate about technology. We launched our chapter in 2017 and we’ve partnered with tech giants Amazon, Tealium, and Jam City and local San Diego companies Learn Academy, Ivy Street Coworking, and Proven Recruiting to bring you amazing workshops!
We’re proud of the #WomeninTech culture we’ve created. Our chapter could not have been successful without the support and commitment to growth our members and community provide! Our passion for supporting women in tech and entrepreneurship initiatives have helped us create valuable events.
#GITSD has hosted two Hacking for Humanity hackathons where over 90+ of the brightest and most creative minds in San Diego came together for our hackathon for social good. Our brilliant hackers came together to positively impact their community by creating innovative solutions for reporting and preventing hate crimes and supporting victims.
Last year we hosted the first entrepreneurship roundtable in their Speaker Series. Members of the community from all different backgrounds and stages of professional growth gathered at PetDesk in downtown San Diego to drink in the wisdom of two prominent and brilliant local entrepreneurs: Flossie Hall, founder of Healthy Mama, and Chelsea Kaufman, founder of LEARN Academy.
This year Girls in Tech San Diego partnered with Jam City for Women Who Tech Women’s Resource Fair where local organizations and community members gathered to celebrate women in technology. Announcements were made about job postings, scholarship opportunities, and the work different organizations are doing to create and maintain opportunities for women in tech and women who want to get into tech. This has never been done before!
In 2020 our goal to raise $5000 to provide educational opportunities for women interested in transitioning to tech. We’re working with local coding bootcamps to create scholarship opportunities and #FundWomen! Not all opportunities are created equal and we want to break those barriers!
Join us at local favorite, FruitCraft, who use their profits to provide free startup grants to entrepreneurs who adopt their same pay-it-forward model We will have the dynamic duo Studio Luniste to capture our moments and Evlo providing the #GIRLBOSS tunes!
This mixer will be a great opportunity to meet and connect with tech industry professionals and build relationships with fellow Girls in Tech members.
