Road Map to Autism and ABA

When:
The SDSU Center for Autism is hosting a talk in collaboration with Comprehensive Autism Center (CAC).  Our guests, Brooke Tompkins and Randi Margarian, will present a guide to support parents and families on their autism journey.  We will review a road map to include: early signs and symptoms, receiving a diagnosis, navigating insurance, finding a provider and treatment program, and beginning the adventure into ABA. It is our goal to support those beginning their individualized path in the world of autism and to provide families hope beyond the diagnosis. Brooke Tompkins and Randi Margarian are M.A., B.C.B.A.’s, with Comprehensive Autism Center in San Diego, California.  They have both worked in the field of ABA for over 6 years and have conducted research in verbal behavior acquisition.  They currently work as BCBA’s specializing in early intervention for children on the autism spectrum.  As BCBA’s, they support Registered Behavior Technicians, train parents and caregivers to implement principles of ABA and are committed to creating a community of awareness and inclusion for those on the autism spectrum and their families. Founded in 2008, Comprehensive Autism Center (CAC) provides access to intensive, full-day therapy sessions three to five days a week, at our dynamic and research-based center-based facilities spread across Southern California. At our centers, children are exposed to a diverse range of therapist-led group activities with other children that build critical socialization skills needed for preschool and life. Group activities are balanced with one-on-one therapy sessions in our private settings. CAC offers the region’s only "true" hybrid approach that combines in-center and in-home therapy allowing children, parents and siblings to learn, generalize, and transfer skills in the home setting. CAC’s clinical leadership (consisting of 90 years of experience between five clinical leaders) has established processes and procedures to ensure the best possible outcomes for our families. Additionally, our team understands that sacrificing quality for quantity, is something that we never do. With the lowest child to supervisor ratio in the world of ABA, we are able to stay committed to each patients program with precision clinical quality. For those who can see the masterpiece within the mess, we promise to cultivate daily miracles through the balance of clinical expertise and genuine compassion to help chart personalized paths to the extraordinary.
