Street food. A delicious, convenient, affordable community builder.Street food does far more than fill bellies. Street food gets people outside, into the community, together. Every year, our communities become more and more separate. It’s estimated the average American eats one in every five meals in her car, and the majority of American families report eating a single meal together less than five days a week. The effects of this separation are subtle but significant. Loneliness and depression are on the rise. Division, infighting, online trolling, and all kinds of other conflict are commonplace as we relate primarily to one another through screens. At City Heights CDC, we believe in community. All year long, we work to provide opportunities to build a better City Heights. And we do this work together, as a community, so let’s gather, let’s celebrate, let’s do the work of community building.
Our first annual Street Food Fest is designed to get people together around tables and food stalls to celebrate another year of community building.
